Hour 18 Siesta

Wide awake after
evening siesta
yet gloomy
of not being entitled
enough sleep
to be greeted
by a cup full
of Tea
plucked by finest tea leaves
of Kenya
gifted by my loved aunt.
Tea isn’t a refreshment
but a celebration
in office and no less at home
where the evening get together
is just an excuse.

Dancing

I try to

jig

to the

swallowtail.

I try

really

hard

but it’s

just too

damn

fast.

I’ll

dance

to the

crow

instead.

Prompt #23 Missing

A wave of Melancholia
washed over me,
drenching all my thoughts .

It was the quiet sorrow
that destroyed me from within,
tears trickle down.

Zoned out
His voice takes me to a place
full of tragedy and its beauty.

It compels me to pick
up my pen and word
out every fleeting feeling.

It’s an art the way
he moves you
with the sorrow in his voice.

I miss the way how
Don McLean can unwrap my soul
and free my spirit and how I swirled
feverishly in circles until I felt dizzy.

The song Vincent Van Gogh
can make the numb hurt again.
It resurrects inexplicable feelings.

Missing

I love the way you reached for me before fully awake

strong arms masking musky morning breath

kissing. my mate

coffee expresse’ed, toasted bagel on a plate

hurried through and (in spite of you!), just maybe I won’t be late

it was in this fashion that we came to know our passions –

treble clefts, timbales and a few missed electric bill due dates

with and through this plus more we came to seal our fate

now jaws sunk in, skin so thin you look at me and say

hey, my angel, happy to see you again.

many mornings long ago we waked and loved just so

23. Now that you’re gone

Our chats on long boring days
About nothing and everything
Me impatient, you ever the story teller
Never thought a time would come
When I longed for one more story, one more impossible dream
It was, it is too much to bear

#22

A new beginning

a new start

Now is the time

with the sunrise

to tackle

this work

Prompt twenty three

I miss the smile I had in your arms

The tender sweetness wrapped knowingly

Peaceful

I miss the cool softness of your touch on my head

I miss the pooling of sheets on this sweet bed

Aww sleep how I miss you

Soon you will be mine

I will enjoy you for many hours

Perhaps till the end of time

Missed Opportunity

My true calling?

What is with

All the questioning

Pointedly objected

Forever scarred

Early on, from ones she loved

Now weary, scared

Exhilarating- freeing

In creative be-ing

But it’s not a job

How to change that feeling

Dig, further in

It’s okay, to start again

Always easier

Said than done

Always slipping

Stumbling, fumbling

Opening the wounds

Of old

Overcoming, so profound

#21

The suitcase

packed tightly

with treasures

some clothes

and some…

other stuff

important to me

probably not

to anyone else

my treasures

are unique
