Homeless
Walking the streets day and night
Begging for food
Searching for job
Looking for shelter
I found
Some leftovers
No opportunities
Close doors
I wondered
Who am I?
Where is my place?
To sleep tonight!

She wore emeralds
and diamonds
Round her neck
So much a Manet
outline
So much like Klimt
imcoplete
I like his work
Her beauty,
strength and eyes
like fired up steel
High rank as high
as her high cheek
bones
Her thoughtful look
is deep as the sea
What are you thinking about
Oh, beautiful ne
With
Emeralds and diamonds
Snaked soulfully
Round your neck
They are things,
but not the real
you
You, who holds
them up
Your souls passion
elegant and regal
as the garment you
wear
Your souls passions
hidden
Behind ruby lips
Quieted by clear sapphire eyes
They speak…
See me now, Now see me
The beautiful one
in emerald
Framed in a gallery’s walls
As high as its
ceiling
How high you reign over
your castle of
beauty
This land is yours
yet
Who holds your
heart?
Look deeply in her
eyes and you will
see
The silence of her
sweet lips
Speak to me
Moldy dank and desolate insides dirty with secrets dark with lies
Stale like day old pumpernickel bread crumbled on to the concrete resembling neglected shit on the street
Unworthy of time let alone breath eyes sunken similar to glorious sun sets
Final Trip to Allahabad
That was our final trip together;
The Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad
Where you asked me to donate clothes to a Sanyasin,
I did, but the loin cloth that I wore:
You smiled, assuring me
And the Sanyasin vanished in the crowd.
Half of your soul vanished too…
People praised me,
To bring mother to pilgrimage is
Washing away your sins, they said.
You smiled, assuring me again…
Time has flown mother
I still miss your assuring smile
And your soul that vanished in the Kumbh.

Don’t Cry
Do you remember the way things were when we first met?
Roller-coasters beneath fireworks and every day was a celebration.
Every day was an anniversary, an outpouring display,
Of all of our shiniest bits. The ones that I like to nibble on.
Making love inside tents while rain dripped down through the trees,
All my memories of you are reels on repeat of giggling and holding each other close.
Walking across hot coals in your dad’s back yard. Climbing through the woods.
You and I were always climbing, but then there came a shift; I didn’t feel the hand reach back for me.
I don’t know when it was that I grasped forward and felt my palms fly through the air,
But suddenly you weren’t there and I turned into a gnashing and resentful whirl wind,
Of drinking myself stupid and watching the clock expectantly.
I miss the way we used to be. I miss the empty apartment with one couch,
Our room just a few boxes on the floor in the corner. I miss the way things were,
Before this became our present. I miss the calmness of your presence like a
San Diego ocean lulling me to sleep.
Dear American,
the roads that had brought us close
did fork yet again.
Broken strings and emptied ink
could not muster a good bye.
I didn’t get to say goodbye.
Not officially anyway.
I was stuck in a whole other city,
While you and Daryl sat alone in the waiting room.
But my heart shattered when I heard the news.
I knew that your time here was winding down,
I couldn’t see or think of you without beimg reminded of that.
But there’s a huge difference between knowing somerhint is going to happen, and actually having it happen.
Your body was refusing to work, but I still had the selfish thought to keep you around for just a couple more days, just so I could see you again.
I couldn’t help it.
I didn’t want to let you go.
But I pushed away that selfish thought,
Because I knew that it was best for you.
You lived long enough for your body to start falling apart on you,
But I have to think that it was worth it.
All the times I saw that little pig tail of yours wiggle,
Or heard you fake-grumble when I cuddled you.
Each time you did the ear-dance after a bath,
Or chased birds.
With all of that, I have to believe you enjoyed your time here on earth,
And your time here with us.
I know that I enjoyed every last moment of your company and presence.
And I know that when you left,
You took a piece of my heart with you.
I don’t care about never getting it back.
I don’t want it.”
I can be happy with my broken heart
Because the missing piece is with you.
And I know you’ll keep it with you always.
I love you Emmit. I will see you again.
This is a secret you mustn’t repeat:
There are horses in heaven.
They have been there always.
Even while here, they are aware of there.
Have you noticed how the horse
sleeps upright and ready, and seems
to be elsewhere? There are horses
in heaven eating golden sheaves.
They come to earth on angel wings
on the darkest nights. They stay with us.
They sometimes grant us wishes. They
relieve us of labor and sorrows. The horse
was in heaven before Adam met Eve.
And when they left the garden,
a horse took them to another.
The horse lives in heaven
wherever she goes.
This is confidential
and true.
