The Milky Way

That night, I stood opposite of Cassiopeia

reading for her as she smiled at me, iciness

separating us. I floated from her grasp

into outer space,

steam rising,

naked, exposed.

Orion hovered, casting a shadow

over her love, eyes locking with mine.

I sipped from the Big Dipper,

and spent 84 years traveling with Uranus.

I dated Aquarius,

befriended Ursa Minor, that lovable bear,

surfed on the rings of Jupiter,

laughing without a sound. I danced a slow dance

with each of Saturn’s moons, taking a bow after the ninth

set me free. My muted mouth moving, wordless.

The queen gazed in the mirror

as I backfloated through the Milky Way.

Space Safari

A safari of sounds

When darkness is around

Craters that breathe

Suspended disbelief

Noxious smells

Imagination casting its spells

All is darkness in this space

Song of the Singularity (Hour 19)

The ancient expanding void,
Speckled with celestial fires that birth
the formative elements of worlds.

The unseen strings of the space-time tapestry,
enveloping the reaching distances of original source energy,
and surrounding the antimatter within finite points of gravity.
Continuing the song of the Singularity.

The repeated reuse of elemental recipes,
fused at the center of stars and in the collisions of galaxies,
all manner of cosmic destruction brings creation
to continue the song of the Singularity.

Insurmountable distances
that make light surrender to measurement,
allowing fading rays of extinguished stars
to still be visible past their time.
To shower the Earthen sky at night
with stories of an illuminated past,
and continue the song of the Singularity.

To bid me to look for as far as I can see,
into the deep space midnight of interstellar majesty,
and realize the frailty of my place in the grand scheme,
To recognize volumes of knowledge as unreachable possibilities.
Knowing that I, too, continue the song of the Singularity.

HOUR5

Source of memories

There is a place where

I would like to return.

It is my childhood’s lake,

a place where the sky met earth.

It is the lake from my neighbour town,

the beautiful lake where I swam

and where I was happy,

a place full of charm and of fragrance.

Full of childhood’s fragrances,

full of naive, but pure memories.

I would get reloaded if I came back there,

maybe this is what I’ll do in the near future!

Early finishers
late starters
each will find
Radiant day
In the space
We all are floating
Waiting a place
To sit and watch the space
View from below is distorted

Without space….
the stars would have
nowhere to shine,
the earth and the moon would
no longer dance
the sky would no longer hold
the clouds in its embrace
and you would have
no room to move

What magic is in the space
Its landscape is huge
Far more than we all can fill
we all are like
overlapping petals
of different flowers;
Spreading energy
Reaching everyone
across vast space;
caressing and strengthning
Our resolve
and complete
Our circle of poetry!

Hour 19: A Posting from Io

A Posting from Io

Dear Friends,

Well, I’ve settled into my little pod, finally
the surface of Io being what it is
Finding a place to set up housekeeping
was difficult, given all the volcanic activity

It is, as expected, freakishly cold here
Sulfur-dioxide frost coats everything
One dares not explore too far
for fear of freezing to death

Fire and Ice, ha! A land of contrasts
It is hard to know which to fear most
But I don’t fear, not really, only
the loneliness that seeps in around the door

My work keeps me busy
charts and graphs and data collection
the recycling of water, the cooking of meals
I try not to think too much of home

I will send you a photo of the sunset
over the mountains, which are painted
various subtle shades of yellow, red, and green
Only the distant sun seems colorless, and cold

I best sign off now, and try to sleep
It will be many months before you read this
So, I will ask you the favor, dear friends,
of replying with all the speed you can

With all my affection,

Your distant Friend

Hour 19- Space

Poems

The Final Frontier

These are the voyages of Metaphor and Simile

Our 24 hour mission

To explore strange new worlds

Seek out new ways of describing normal situations

To boldly go where no poem has gone before

Space Poem

“Remove your oxygen mask, unclip your magnetic shoes,

take hand – My O my how tall you will stand!”

But I can scarcely see let alone stand on this marsh-mellow turf that you claim is land.

“Our EtherWorld requires supports. Not to worry you will not fail, in this Space no hurt prevails.”

To step outside with you this night, I feel sure that I just might

loose all those things that are my right to do with as I please, no one else must I appease.

So off with you and be gone away, into this Space I cannot stray.
