#9 I Remember Liard

Steam rising
As I walk along the boardwalk
Magic in the mist
A moose slowly turns
While munching her dinner
In the warm spring waters
What is this place
Full of other worldly forms
Together to take the waters

9/24 echo

There’s a shiver in my spine that mimics the wind of the day you first left me.
I can hear a curve in my voice against the walls and I know it only hits them because you’re not standing in the way.

9 haiku

Inner brightness can seem dull
in difficult times-
nothing remains same

Sparkle

Splashing, whirling, tinkling, dancing

The brook traveled through trees and cliffs, telling stories of mountains full of gruff bears and gentle deer.

It giggled and chirruped to the passing branches about evergreens wearing coats of white and masking dens of stoats.

It shouted and reveled the rivers edges with tales of an effervescent spring gurgling from the deepest crevice of the inner ring.

It was encased by an ocean too busy for stories of a land so far away as to be a dream created by some silly, scintillating stream.

Murmuring, churning, churlish, waves

My Beloved City (Prompt Nine-Pic 3)

Prompt Nine
Prompt Nine

Growing up in the desert…
was not my favorite place.
And was not my choice.

When we are born,
or soon after . . .
parents make a choice,
that is their road.

For college I applied,
to get far away.
Find myself…
Find my way!
And 2,500 miles I came!

First time on a plane,
High above the clouds,
Not so bad…
For up so high.
Arrived into the tall city,
To find my fear must ease…

My room was way above,
Looking out the window,
Glass and miles…
and buildings I saw!
Yellow cabs if I leaned!
And people!
You know what I mean?

I was in love…
I chose this place!
Not my parents;
Not my friends…
In fact, they feared for my life!
And I had my adventure…
To make a new me;
To be all I could be!

Phrase Florist 2016 Marathon Poem #7: Mason

Mason

Clear as glass, he lets the light in and shines as if inhabited by the sun itself. He’s branded with words that mean something to him – Ball and Wide-Mouth and Made In The US. Mason swings in the breeze as the backdoor opens and closes, with his band of nine brothers in tow. Jar-headed and neck-threaded, he breaks easily but offers to hold all of my precious savories without fear or complaint. My Mason, my companion, a beloved fixture in my life.

#PoemNo9

The birds carried their song,
the flowing riverbed beside
provide acoustics tones
of hue and calming subtlety.
The winds whisper
their secrets,
bringing me tidings
of the fir trees
dancing to the melodies
of nature’s orchestra.

The leaves rustle
as if to shudder
when touched.
The barks cave in
caressing winds
swaying many a fir tree.

Nature felt fresh on my skin,
far from the bustling traffic signals
in concrete jungles,
I felt purified and cleansed
with the water that flowed.
I found true paradise
by listening to Mother nature.
