Meeting

the strangers decided to meet on a hot and dry day

he arrived first and was standing there looking over the blue ocean waves

she had not arrived and was late

and he was filled with frustration

thinking about life and his fears

she arrived and they decided to go to the cafe on that late day

they were perfect strangers,

and felt like they were the only people in the universe

she reassured him that her lateness was not because she felt confused

she was quite clear

and quite tired of her life of solitude

her empty life

which only made her feel out of control

and tired of perpetuating a falsehood

after a few hours they embraced

tasted the salt on each others lips

and her smell reminded him of ripe and sweet black berries

they sat there smelling the rain

on that elevated cliff

where that café was situated

watching the sails on the ships fly

blue ocean, universe, black berries, salt, fingers, ocean waves, life, solitude, magnified, empty, reassured, life, falsehood, frustration, newness, late day, embrace, situated, thunder, rain, cliff, elevated, confused, fear, confusion, lifting, flying, floating, dry, heat, confused, up ahead, out of control

Autobiography of a Face

emerged from the void to face the sun
scrunched into a wail of pain at its first breath
faced whales in the ocean, cougars in the woods
faced bully’s and lovers
faced a life of goals unfulfilled
for now

#10 – Angel of Lavender

20150428-143608-472-AngelofLavenderShe appeared twice

Once to a young girl

The other to an even younger boy

Lots of gossip are running around

The Angel of Lavender

Nobody believes these two kids

Today she’s coming for you

You don’t believe your eyes

She’s well talking to you

And your life changes forever

As she is always by your side

After this night of the Miracle

Angel of Lavender

Is born in your heart

Stayed and waited there

For so many years just waiting

The moment you heart would open

To this encounter of pure grace

When you meet the

Angel of Lavender

Lightness in your heart forever

Autobiography of a Face

When you look at her…
LOOK AT HER!

Don’t just look at the ways
Her lips
Pucker up
Every time she crawls in
To give you a kiss

LOOK AT HER!

Don’t just look at how
The grey strands
Of hair
Have begun to
Trace the edges of her face

LOOK AT HER!

Don’t just look
To see
If the color of her eyes
Have changed over time

LOOK AT HER!

When you look at her
All you notice
Is…
She has aged
A young girl
Whose supple
Glowing skin
Has become
Cracked and dry
Like a desert with
No rain

LOOK AT HER!

Look at her to see how
All her beauty
Lies
Further than what’s
On the surface
Even in the wrinkles
You can see
All the knowledge and wisdom
She’s gained
Her smile
Has become
Like a sweet cherry pie
Her eyes are much
Gentler now
For they’ve
Witnessed too much
Through the years

When you look at her
LOOK AT HER!

Look at her like its the last day
The last day
You’ll ever see
What love looks like
When it’s staring
Right back
‘Atcha!

Prompt 9 five minute poem

Five minutes, that’s all it took.

He was ill, hungry and tired.
Ok.The diarrhoea was a no no.
What’s a mangy fox to do
When faced with a cat’s flap
Into brightness,
But enter that forbidden world?
To dance, disturbingly,
Past pots and pans,
To drink from pools of soup,
And gnaw on bones of lamb.
To storm for one blest night
The gates of paradise.

Autobiography of a Face (Poem 10/24)

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt fresh faced.

I’m constantly caked in this thick make up.

People used to be able to see me.

My freckles.

My light pale pink cheeks.

My shiny nose.

My feathery eye lashes.

I used to have eyebrows, now I get graffiti’d with a black marker.

How I miss myself.

I died when I had to ‘look’ pretty.

My story is short, but so was my joy.
