What is Lust

One true love I never thought I’d meet.
“Move on…” the psychic told me.
“We have many mates to our souls.
He was just one of them.”

Was he really? What color were his eyes?
I don’t recall, except for the way he felt
in my arms, and the warm glow I still feel.
Darling, I still feel you near.

I gave up long ago. I gave up
before he played his guitar.
Before he stopped at the sight of me.
Before he walked away.

Before she claimed him,
I gave up on love.

No such thing, I thought, when he tried
to say it, when I tried to say it,

when I said it in my heart and in my soul.
Lust! What is lust but longing for love?

Hour 18 (2022)- Last Day of School

All dressed up in their finest
Ruffled dresses and sweet bow ties
Shiny faces
Good behaviours, what a surprise!

They sat in their seats for circle time
Parents watching on with pride
They sang their songs with vigour
And showed off their skills, never cried.

Our precious little people
Who we have worked for this whole year
With joy in our eyes as we said our goodbyes
I’ll admit we did shed a tear.

01 – Dihydrogen monoxide

Embrace me, take me within you, consume me –
Remind me how each heartbeat anchors me to reality
Remind me how the finiteness of moments bellow testament to life
Remind me how to breathe
And cleanse me as I fly, staring off into the impossible beyond
Before diving down into what infinity HAS to feel like,
Palpable patience punctuated by stirred sensations

You are the vector of disease and cleanser of souls
Harbinger of illness and decay, suffocant of humans,
We who are simply slightly evolved simians, ignorance-bathed,
Reaching for the stars from gutters between
Facades etched by you, your falling grace, powerful
Obliterator of rocks, stone-shaping magician,
Earth carving blade, precious you are to us, too
You are justice manifest, symbolic in your structure,
Equilibrium and purity necessary for creation’s will

You are not turbulence here; here you are calm, poised;
Immense,
Irreverent,
Eternal.
You watch me with admiration as I use you to explore my depths
As I probe yours
Comforted, knowing that I am home within you

Valkyrie’s Ballad Hour 19

Valkyrie’s Ballade (Valkyrie)

‘Master, your distrust is misplaced,
For you are the whole world to me,
Turning teacher to your student,
A mind shrewd and gallant to see.
Safe with you I lay, submissive,
Your feisty weapon, thanks to thee.’
My plan sadly remains, our end,
But you are the whole world to me.

‘Now to these wolves, permit my speech,
At midnight bars cease to serve, see?
Hairy dregs wander marauding,
Waiting for the wolves to roam free.
Drunks howl at the moon, unhindered,
Set their undeserving soul’s free.’
Soon we fall sadly together,
But you are the whole world to me.

‘Empty sheds sit behind the bar,
Deprived wolves in the pig pit free,
A drunk man is easily led,
Prospecting a woman like me.
Sensual and bizarre to see,
Falling for a woman like me.’
I have ordered our doom’s sweet drug.
But you are the whole world to me.

Escaping to capture wolf’s bane,
Pain of the nightmare soon to come,
Your insanity spirals free,
But you are the whole world to me.

“Summer’s Heart”

A new generation of summer’s heart,
Heat wave on skin,
Touch from within,
Not complaining though,
It is worth a thing.

Happy thoughts of promise
A never ending kisses
A young hearts small wish,
Good young, Forever bliss.

Hour18, Text Prompt18

Finally, hour eighteen

Thousands of miles from home,

fourteen hours of flying,

two years of waiting,

I turned over, and he was there,

us asleep together, bodies intertwined,

to wake up and know he was there,

this was real, and it was not a dream.
