One String – Hour 3 Prompt
Sometimes
I don’t know what to say
Wishing I could play more than just one string
Sometimes
I find it easier to speak with less
Using all the voices of just one string
24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
Sometimes
I don’t know what to say
Wishing I could play more than just one string
Sometimes
I find it easier to speak with less
Using all the voices of just one string
Chase me
Pretend to resist the temptation
The dance of flirtation
Circle me
Draw me in with a look
But you’re the fish on the hook
Look into me
See beyond the exterior
And be blind to the inferior
Give in to sin
Desire what’s out of reach
Don’t practice what you preach
sometimes i think water is God
it’s formless
it’s tasteless
it’s colourless
it’s odorless
it’s very innocent
its very patient
Yet none can survive without
In our bodies it takes the biggest percentage
on our earth it covers the biggest space
water! water!water…
my God water.
My sunflower girl
You brighten all my days
My sunflower girl
You are in my heart always
Whenever I’m down
You can always bring a smile
My sunflower girl
Please stay here with me awhile
My sunflower girl
You are happy through the dim
My sunflower girl
You embrace my every whim
Whenever I’m cold
You adopt me in your warmth
My sunflower girl
Always helping me go forth
My sunflower girl
You are hope and you are joy
My sunflower girl
Giving all you can employ
Whenever I think
Of all the love in the world
My sunflower girl
You are there with arms unfurled
My sunflower girl
From the moment of your birth
My sunflower girl
You’re the sweetest soul on earth
Whenever I see
Every ray of bright sunshine
My sunflower girl
I’m so glad that you are mine
Her child-sized cello.
How it vibrated
in her embrace.
Her embrace
now overflowing
with three children.
fingers press
bows slide
against strings
strapped to
formed wood
creating symphonic
harmony
sweet, playful
melody
What stirs the heart will soothe the soul.
A Vampiric Tribute
A nightmarish canvas is flayed before me,
Her responses swift to my lover’s desire,
Preparing to sate blood and fantasy’s dichotomy,
She falls into the bonds of my unrepentant Dyer.
Tarpaulin shackled and dragged to the tomb,
She struggles and kicks like a rabid dog,
Chained and tormented under death’s loom,
Confused she twists and dances in the smog.
You draw from her suffering a wanton mirth,
You draw from your ring, a talon like shank,
You draw from her throat her life force’s worth,
You draw from my essence an evil so rank.
We feed on the outpour, crimson’s warm spice,
We feed on desire’s engorging, thrumming flow,
We feed on my terror of your tyrannical ice,
We feed on your adoration of my submission’s glow.
They say when atomic bombs detonate
It is all flash and no bang.
When six children scream
Cry
Whine
Over YouTube ads and stolen toys
Rumbling bellies
Wet diapers
Bitten digits chomped by the dinosaurs
Roaming my living room
It is machine gun blasts and pipe bombs
They don’t destroy and vanish though
They build
A cachopony of stimulation
Blanking out my mind
And numbing my soul
Like steel wool scrubbing away my spirit
To decimation
Around then is the transition
From symphony of screech
To physical experience
The sounds can’t be distinguished.
They almost aren’t even heard
They are felt
Until you can’t feel
Every
Single
Day
