Hero

We don’t know what it means anymore.

Maybe we never did but we’ll give it our best shot

& therein lies your answer.

It’s being able to make those split-second calls

without a moment’s hesitation.

It’s walking into a shelter & not leaving until every last one of those lovable scamps has found a caring home. It’s finding the girl with the broken smile alone in the corner of the gym & asking her if you may have this dance. It’s never ceasing your efforts to improve yourself every waking hour of your existence.

& at the end of the day, that’s all anyone can ever ask of you.

Poetry Marathon Hour 3:

Again I am using the “I am incomplete without you” prompt journal by Iain S. Thomas and this time I’m using page 63: A bird that can eat words lands on this page, what words does it eat? And What words doesn’t it eat?

POEM 3:

Should you decide that _____ is indeed

more nourishing than everything we have

ever fed ourselves on previously – be it

poetry or ______ I wish you the best in

making use of everything that is offered

and that which is not available but should be.

And honestly, the morning dew allows us

_____, which is not to be neglected so long as

you understand _______. The early bird catches

the worm but sometimes the words we comfort

ourselves with are far more important. I only hope

______ will wake to notice such things before they

are gone and over and shriveled in the midday ______.

Hour 3: Settle

The mountain mist settles
Revealing winding paths with no end

The lofty winds carries
Our wishes up these paths

Towards the lonesome tree
Of red and pink

Under the clear blue skies
Where life meets eternity

The wish is simple
It’s doesn’t want much

Just a simple touch
Of that flower which blooms

But once
Up those winding paths with no end

Hidden in the mountain mist
That never really settles.

For My Love

I didn’t think
That love could bring peace.
I didn’t know
That I could walk clouds of trust.
I didn’t try
To make you the center of my world
I didn’t resist
When you made me feel cherished.
I won’t regret
The treacherous long path to you
I won’t forget
That I am yours and you are mine.
I can’t measure
The time we have left.
I won’t dwell
On the future instead of enjoying the present.

Cello Song

walking along the river
fall sky heavy heaving
clouds gray cast
winter still months away
ochre orange yellow red
leaves flutter fall around me
I quicken my step
rustling through fallen piles
circling in wind eddies
I imagine being home
warm tea nestled in my hands
nowhere to be
joy in the absence
of all responsibility
embracing the autumn of my life

moves across the long strings

your lungs once again

softly quiet     deep with breath

a music long ago made dissonant

the rasp of mortality

now made melodic

in its transformation

Prompt 2: Miles to Go

I was thinking I might take a cruise—

To somewhere with long Canadian light,

Where darkness, deep, is not so much,

And brighter flowers fill long sun hours,

Just south of Alaskan permafrost.

To view the bears, grizzled or white,

and glaciers glistening rainbow-bright,

Both, calving, one in summer, one not,

‘Mid frigid fingerprints of God.

Where spike and spire stand rock solid, bold,

As they’ve always done, since days of old,

And my little cruise ship will putter by,

Unnoticed by the massive sky.

Minute speck on the glacial slate,

Finite glitter, by grandeur great.

Darkest Night-#2

The darkest evening of the year was the night six people stole women’s constitutional rights.
The darkest evening of the year was the silence in Uvalde, Texas where
the souls of 21 people left this earth because of gun violence.
the deepness of the tragedies only reflect the heart of our American humanity.
who is listening to the out cries of families of 11 black souls gun down in a NYC town.
Now that is the “darkest evening of the year.” Robert Frost

Robert did not know this day would come, perhaps with the hope of our divine one’s intervention,
tomorrow night will be better? I will pray, wait and see.
