Prompt 21 Ode to loves lies

You were never abandoned
I wanted you
to know
I planned to return

There was broken
off shards of glass
left in my heart

burning lights
head nods and kisses

I longed for you
I squattered in vacant houses
with you

Willing to be
nowhere to be found
as long as it was with you

You finished early
leaving me holding the books
by the class you never planned to attend
holding the keys to a house
you never planned to return to

It was you
who abandoned me
telling me to pick my head up

as you mind fucked me
masturbating my brain
with ideas
you had no intention
to perform

It was I who couldn’t see
until
I could
You were worse than where you started
and settled for tied sheets
between homes
when one was always enough

squattering your own respect away
over a place to stay
secured with false love

then you look me up
telling me its not what it was cracked up to be
when it was

Hour 21: Ode to My Pillow

Even though your comfort seems so out of reach, you bring me
sweet dreams as I think of you. Such a firm little cloud, you cradle
my head, at those times I manage to get to bed. Without you, I
would probably be such a mess…uncomfortable…neck aching….
no sweet dreams for me. How did I get so lucky to find you? How
did I get so blessed to have you lull me off to sleep? Oh pillow, my pillow.
Your sweet luxury is only a room away, but quite a distance to go
Before I can savour your relief.

Hour 21-Lacking Focus

This is when

I cannot

Will not

Concentrate on anything

not right

not  worthwhile

not worthy of my focus

I have no focus

I am a slit of who I was

All the walls are broken down

I don’t have energy for doubt

I don’t want creative genius

I only want this over

I want the ending

I want the reward

I don’t care if these make sense

If anything follows meter

I don’t care if anyone likes this

Or hates this

I am only focused

On what lies ahead

Typing the end

Slipping out of consciousness

Finding some peace

Tomorrow I will judge

Not tonight

Tonight I don’t care

Hour 21 – Ode Deux Tres (text prompt)

An Ode to Time

Always present, yet unknowable, an ineffable pace constructed on the premise of change.

Your passage is marked not by your existence but by the perception of it, unique to your peers and overwhelming to those too small to grasp it.

And yet…

We insignificant in comparison consider you known to us, we stretch and thin you, compress you to our whim wile still shoving meaning into you like bread into a turkey’s ass.

Time, oh time, there is never enough of you in your expanse but we who created you spite an excess of your presence

You enigma in a ham sandwich, Time.

Haleakala

Once fire and ash. The molten lava flowing.                                                                                                               Now it sits dormant.                                                                                                                                             Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

Reduced to a tourist site with a link to outer space.                                                                                                    And it sits dormant.                                                                                                                                                    Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

Could the volcano erupt again? Of course if we did something to piss of Pele goddess of volcanoes and fire.

Until then it sits dormant.                                                                                                                                            Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

I’ve Noticed

I’ve noticed all the
gray in my hair
the lines upon
my face

I’ve noticed the
weight gained
the pain in my
aching knees

I’ve noticed not
being able to bend
the strength lost to
stand again

I’ve noticed the
years as they pass
In the blink of
the eye

I’ve noticed my age
my blood pressure’s high
the pain in my
knotted hands

I’ve noticed I no
longer play and run
the days of youth
are long gone

I’ve noticed and
so have they
the best of me
and how they remind me

Hour 21: The House by the Sea

It was just there
Atop the old hill
A little, cozy abode
With windows facing the sea

The doors creaked
So did the floorboards
The smell of old wood
Lingering in the air

And when you looked to the side
You could see paintings, pictures
All of sea, the scenery from the window
Remain forever unchanged, after all.

Not odd (hour 8 prompt)

I think Odysseus got it all wrong
off on his adventures
little planning, reservations
not made in advance
obvious why his trip went badly

Wrong spots, wrong time of year
wrong monsters
a little planning goes a long way
so did Odysseus
but it didn’t have to be

He could’ve brought his son
many spots offer
kids eat/stay free and
there were always things
they could have team-built on

They really needed some decent
father/son time, bonding
fishing, perhaps – or sports
though explaining sirens to mom
would have taken some finesse

Location is everything in regards
to real estate, vacations
Sparta is not Cabo at spring break
when you travel on the cheap
beggars can’t be choosers
