24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
Ironic it is
To cage the one who freed you
From your loneliness
keys between the fingers
pepper spray dangles
what about walking at night
invigorates
and terrifies
perhaps they go hand in hand
icy air ripping at the lungs
praying that headlights rush past you
and keep moving
keep driving
approach each corner with hesitation
no headphones
remain aware of your surroundings
text updates the closer you get to your
destination
“made it home safe”
You have my heart
so we’ll never part
Many things can destroy us
Turning us to dust
but we are never passed away
As the sun shines so gay
The music of our dance
is the infinite sound of our chance
What befalls the white man’s hand
Footsteps in our sacred sand
Our home is empty, except our love
tenderly held by our sister’s glove
The plains are bare
our knives in much less care
We speak not to our beasts of life
our friends that freed us from starving strife
Do what you must
but we have to conquer trust
and not let hatred steal
The faithful passion that we feel
Curse the fate of the human soul
no matter who or when the drums do roll
We are blessed with courage and faith
tying us to the past warrior’s wraith
Walking outside the building
My heart flutters
The fire burns inside the building
Fire of people
Fire of anger
Fire of greed
I walk, walk over
Avoiding myself to get burnt
I walk, walk further
I need to find my home,
I only need myself, book and nature,
I need to stop,
Oh time, can you stop? I need to rest
I need to find my serenity,
I need to refresh my mind
Enough, It’s enough, leave me alone.
I see myself as someone that tries to help around.
Someone that might be average and just tries.
keep going the demons are closing in.
I think a thought and smiled a grin.
Behave
Ham sandwich for lunch
Potato chip crunch, crumbs bounce
Happiness, each bite
The Hiding Place
The bustling Tarshish is now a skeleton city
With an echo howling from one broken ship to another;
Kadesh-barnea is no longer attractive –the bread therein has become stale;
Jericho is in confusion –the walls have tumbled, and there’s no one to rebuild
Babylon, the beautiful Babylon now gazes at passerby,
The precious stones and jewelry in its port all disappeared
The kings of fame and valor, all gone to their eternal home –
All in the pit with their horses and horsemen.
To what then do you hold for substance through the ages?
To which hideout can one run
In times of tried and of storm?
Find out, there’s a place
And there alone make your refuge
