Hidden Secrets

His secrets hidden
buried in his grave
even if she tells
they say its just
her game
What can she do
so lost and so
confused, all
alone in a world
of pain
She once ran away
tried to hide it all
but he found her
and she paid it
all again
His twisted sense
of justice, her
harsh time served
full of heavy penalties
in life
If it was just the
beatings or the
way he called her
names but no he
did more
Even in death
his secrets followed
her leaving her
scared and unable
to live
The past is the past
at least it’s supposed
to be that way, but
for some, it never
ever leaves

Hour 17: Books were Safer

Books were safer

Even when they disappointed

Or twisted to unexpected ends

If they spirited me

Into danger and certain death,

I could always return to ground

With but a scratch on my memory.

Even though they created for me

Wicked worlds, shrouded in pain,

They brought me to places

Where hearts are healed and souls revived.

They filled me up

With critical thoughts

And stretched my imagining

Above my intellect.

Books would never trade my trust

For lies

Or diminish my unguarded devotion.

They hold my place

And never betray my love

With envy or greed.

Books were always safer

Than other people

Anyway.

18. A Senrua Quintet on Expansion

Just be still. Listen.
There are bigger thoughts than these        antiquated words.

Antiquated words
keeping us tied to the now.
We have outgrown now.

We have outgrown now.
We’re ready for the new words
the whole new language.

The whole new language
of expanded beingness
higher frequency.

Higher frequency
connecting The Collective.
Just be still. Listen.

For What It’s Worth

The scorching sun has disappeared into the dark musky clouds

Here I sit on the moor talking to myself again, aloud

I wish you’d known many things before we met

I wish you thought of yourself as important

Then maybe you wouldn’t have left me without

I wish you would listen as I listen to you

Can you just be still, and listen?

To realize that no means NO and not try again

I wish you could see me as an equal

And stare at me to say, my partner

I wish you could be you instead of a hypocrite

I wish you knew that tiny gestures just put me on cloud 9

I wish you realize that big surprises are just the tip of the iceberg

I wish you could feel free and kiss me senseless

I wish you could forget tomorrow and laugh with no worry

For what it’s worth,

Some call me insane but I was never seen

Ever since the time, I became the punch in need of a bag

With your mighty fists that always knocked me down cold

What a transformation it gave me

An obsession with my with foundations and concealers

A shapeless glutton with a face I didn’t remember anymore

Taking that pain and shaving my hair

locked up into rehabilitation

Christened for redemption

So that I could find myself again

Just imagine,

If you had caressed my face instead of crushing it

If you had wrapped your hands around me to give me warmth

What joy that would have been

I would have been so incensed with your love and attention

Giving my heart and devotion you

Served on a platter

For what it’s worth,

I learned a lot from you

I hope you did too.

just be still, and listen

just be still, and listen
lay under the waning super moon
and listen to moonbeams scratch the surface
of the itch on your back
while the grass grows
and the grasshoppers pack their bags too
tomorrow we’re going to follow the itch
to the Badlands
but tonight
just be still, and listen
to the dreams of the ones
who sleep in their cars down by the river
and cast fishing lines into the water
telling their fish tales and wish tales
to anyone who
will just be still, and listen
while the teenage one across the street
sneaks into their own backyard
through a gate that squeaks with the walk of shame
but if you listen close
has a different name
first love, for real, for feels, for deals
with the only one who listens

just be still, and listen
just be listen, and still
rearrange the letters of listen
silent;
listen,
still

Listen for a Friend

Prompt for Hour Eighteen

Text Prompt

If you want a friend;

be still and listen.

If you need to hide from an enemy,

be still and listen.

Keeping still will conceal you.

Listening will reveal to you.

And you’ll know who’s your enemy

and who’s your friend.

A World Before Me – Hour Eighteen

I see a world before me, filled with all the brightest hues
A far cry from the visions that are laid out on the news
A rock amid so many more, so large and yet so small
And yet, a place where goodness reins supremely over all
The media, in all its worth, oft only tells the plight
The goodness lost amid the fold of what is brought to light
Stories created and not told, made up to skew the mind
Of those who cannot see the truth or to its power blind
Oh yes, the world is ugly, our history is too
But the future can be lovely, if we choose a brighter hue
The world, so filled with darkness, cannot merely exist
Unless we feed to its grayness and allow it to persist

These Arcane Rhymes

For when two become one

Combined by the same

It shall then—be done

That—which you proclaim

For two shall become one

And when two are then said to agree

Your wishes will not remain barren

Thanks to this—prophesy

With praise we may then start to sing

Whatever our hearts—may desire

For a song itself is said to bring

Feelings that manifest and then transpire

For many things I do wish to convey

Through these words that bring delight

Though— I must then wait and delay

Until your reborn with second sight

Hour 15

It’s a terrible thing to be a yes-man,

but there are times when it’s better to say “yes”!

A guy I really liked asked me if I wanted him

to stay one day more in town for me.

And what did I answer? No, thinking of his job

and that we’ll have more time next time…

But there was no next time as he vanished!

Though, we could have been happy one day more…

Just be still #thepoetrymarathon #prompthoureightteen

“Just be still and listen” Shloka Shankar

Sure, you can hear, the death knell

of your dreams, the grand plans for your life

that you charted as a child.

Hush, but listen also

for the lilting tune of the night

as it calls to you from memories

filling your world with delight.

Listen for the sound of laughter

as it tip-toes in quietly, barely heard

above love, which is silent and still.

There is hope yet, still your mind and listen

Listen to your heart, as it carries you along.

Just be still and listen. Be still,

And listen as your world bursts into song.
