Passing Through

dusty guitar strings throw off grey fuzz
practiced fingers guide back to tune
an instrument abandoned
a traveler craving levity
together, sing a few 90’s pop
80’s rock ballads
let the wood and metal
remember what it’s like to dance
and the shaking hands
remember how to create
to weave notes and words combined
a frivolous endeavor
the sound echoes
around the lonely town
bounces from concrete wall to brick
finding no one but the player
guitar’s too bulky for the road
but both will cling
to the memories
a night of song
in an otherwise
silent life

Waiting for the Fever to Break

Cruising deadass plague campus at night

Blasting ‘everything is broken’ by dylan cuz it’s the truth
Waiting like everyone for something to happen
But at least unlike everyone for the moment I’m on the move
Until the car falls apart and I find a new way to flee
It’s a few left turns
To the Great American Nothing

Longing for Comfort

For the comfort, of resting in my bed

For the pleasure, of another encounter with thee

For the peace, of another dawn

For the grace, of the line drawn

hard in the sand

For the joy, of music’s steady beat

For the understanding, of truths left untold

and for the mystery they still hold

Half Marathon My Hour 8

I suppose this might count for prompt 20 since I was talking about moonlight.

Night Lit

I watch soft waves

Moving back and forth

Quiet light from the moon

Shines silver on the black waves

Everything quiet and calm

The world just small splashes

The world just silky light

Hour 21 — Ode to My Beautiful Bed

Beth A. Fleisher

Hour 21

Prompt 21:  Write a poem about what you are longing for most right now.

Ode to My Beautiful Bed

Oh beautiful bed, how I long for you.

Your soft Organic cotton sheets,

Deep pockets fitted to plush mattress,

Cocoon me for sleep.

Two soft pillows

Cradle my head.

A purple velvet throw

In case the night gets cold.

You are everything I long for.

Your sheltering softness

Comforts me through the night.

Game #11

It was only a game, a silly one
Maybe that’s why I don’t remember much else
but retrospective knowledge is a deadly friend
and it forces the wound open
when you did not know it existed
Now there is anger and hate
Disgust at everything they say
You will not speak of it
Maybe amnesia is your friend.

H.21 – Sleep

My  eyelids crave closure,

my brain is engulfed in fog,

fingers slipping on keys,

deleting a line or two  my

body fuzzy, begging for rest,

But l can hold a little longer

Its only an hour or three, the

words  have letters missing

l have forgotten how to type

but it’s a 24 hour journey,  that

ends at 11 tonight .

Hour 21 Goodnight

I want to go to bed with you
Lets slip between the sheets
I’ll fall into your sweet embrace
And let you completely take me over
I’m ready to go all night
If you’re ready to take me there
So what do you say Mr. Sandman,
Can you make my dreams come true?

20~17

Come into my cocoon

Hold me

Imagine the beauty

That could be Us

If only we could learn to fly

Together
