Prompt 21 Hour 21

When I am really sleepy
is when I miss arms around me
curling up into someone
feeling safe
in order to drift away for a bit
safe and completely relaxed

Hour 20: The Sun in My City

It rains,

Five times, in a whole year,

For grains,

Humans, and beasts to share,

And so I carry,

All my days with the sun

I’m never wary,

Of the sun in my city

That shines,

Brighter than anywhere I have ever seen,

We often align,

My sun, and me.

Oxygen

I carry my dreams

Like oxygen cylinders

On this one lifetime climb.

Oh what a burden!

Should I leave it here?

It’d be easier.

No!

The air is thinning,

The breaths are short,

Heart beats sounding

Like angry poundings on my front door,

As death came knocking

I intended to go

No!

The mask on my face

With oxygen brimming

The poundings fading

Death receding.

Hour 21: Reason

A reason to exist

A dream to chase

Something to look forward to

On all those nights full of tears

Maybe a hand that reaches out

Or someone who would listen

Someone to call out my name

When I am lost

Bring me back, tell me it’s okay

I don’t need much

Just a reason to exist

Something to persevere

20~15

once upon a time

i wandered through the sky

the jerk behind me kicking my seat

ignoring my glares

so i took a little walk

making my plans

dropped my pen

and quickly tied his shoes together

boy was his mother ever pissed at me

~but that kicking stopped

Bed-Hour 21

There is only one place

I want to be

My cozy bed

With soft sheets

And plump pillow

My jammies on

and my curled up cat at my side

I want to crawl in

Turn off the light

Fluff my pillow

Around my tired head

I want to fall into dreamland

Take my place in the land of Nod

And never write another poem

Time for a Luau

24 Poems: “The Dinner Party”

Time for a Luau

The grand finale

From trees and cacao seeds fermented

A simple pie, with flakey coconut

A history of passion, fermented

My fresh-baked pie crust

Passed the flakey test

And the fudge-y chocolate pudding filling

Challenged me in the dieting test

I cheated

Adding a few butterscotch chips

For a touch of buttery glory

So down were the chips

The rich heavy cream

And the coconut milk

Gave a creaminess never before known

And this pleasure I am sure to milk

The whipped cream topped it off

With a light river of Malibu rum

Temptation for seconds

Tum-de rum-tum-de-rum

Chahat:

undo your hair,
let the bare night embrace
her tchthonic creatures
in slender arms, despair…

unclasp your dress,
let your full breast splay
dark ambrosia to slake my
passion, cause unrest.
