Sudden Wealth

The craze for overnight wealth
By an indomie generation

Of jerry-builders abound

With no drive to hustle
They sow a seed of grain and await

A massive harvest of gold overnight!

They go to school but never attend classes

Expecting a First Class!
No wonder, their civil engineering degree with a pass degree

Is as worthless as a piece of pie.
No motivation to build
When they do, their foundation is definitely waiting to fail,

They never seem to get it right!

Their crave for insatiable wealth doing nothing is their biggest setback…
Dabbling into dubious schemes to fastened path to the place of riches
But when they eventually do
Their hands are stained with blood
From thuggery triggered by deep pocket politicians
And drug barons
With no regard for life…
Never walk the path of sudden wealth
It will steal your peace, then your life!

3:00 p.m Exploring unknown

The well in her area was stuck and needed driftage,

she saw the symbolism in testing the distant parts of the village

but exploring every new meter she felt ashamed

of not putting her nose out of parents gate.

Above all she was dreaming to take steps forward

in movement, in daring to know behind school guard,

to dive deeply into refreshing waters of the well,

she was almost carrying bucket out when someone was there…..

Sometimes I think I’m the only one

who feels pain and loss.

I think I’m the only person

who understands how vital

and fragile

a true friendship is.

How it must be nurtured

and how easily it is to forget life

before the bond.

The eternity that must pass before there even is a bond.

It’s so easy to be taken for granted.

To take someone else for granted.

The frightening forever that must pass

when such bonds are broken.

I cannot imagine

opening up

to another such scenario.

~but how can I live without one?

Half Marathon My Hour 5

Took a quick nap but I’m back at a few more prompts.

Dord: A Ghost Word

I once heard a word

It snuck into my brain

In and out like the tide

I looked for it

It haunted my thoughts

In the back of my mind

Dord a misunderstanding

Dord a ghost that slipped in

Violets

They had put violets in my room

When I returned from the hospital

And mistakenly took six tablets in one dose

Having discharged myself far too soon

Fearful of missing my flight

And mindful of my mother’s fright

And while I didn’t die

I came exceptionally close

Even after having out-run the ghost

Who has chased me, unseen, through the tunnels of Derinkuyu –

Underground city – hell – both

Running at break-neck speeds I had never known

I had the capacity for

Defying the guide

Who told me under no circumstances must I deviate

From the course

Divined by himself and his expert team –

He’d lied

It became a necessity

And though I did not know the maze of chambers deep underground

It is my belief that I was found

By a far more powerful guide

And brought back to the light

While it would have made sense for me to have been irretrievably lost

I knew I had to escape whatever the cost

And together – me and my spirit guide –

This is what we achieved.

.

Furious at my survival they had tried next

To conquer me with thunder and poison

Issued via a venomous bite

And blue lipped I had been placed in an ambulance

Blood pressure dragging me down with it into a trance

Back down to a level under the surface

Inches from Hell without having earned it.

(The violet, I learned later, is a mediator between Heaven and Earth –

A symbol known to bring balance)

19. A season is what we need…

A world wide pandemic had to take shape before we slowed our gait. A battle cry from the earth had to be made to set her free.  We did not do it willingly. We were not listening. She needed her plants and animals to flourish. She had no fear of the reciprocity that we seek . She did not demand, yet when we no longer listened in what seemed like eons of time she decided to stand her ground and we still refused to listen to her cries. We were all forced to slow down to stop and let nature take reign over her land.  To have a rest. To recall life . We call her mother, but our arbitrary forms of commemoration no longer stand the test of time because they show that we have not learned.  We cannot reduce our commemoration to her to a single day, no mother, father or even birthday or earth day should be reduced to a single day.

Mother earth deserves an entire season . A season of change, more than a day or a  month off to recuperate each year. This is what we as a society will do if we truly care. Anything less than a season will not suffice.

The Gregorian calendar has become an archaic symbol of a bygone era.  Are we ready to usher in the age of Aquarius a new better way? We can learn from our past and honor all that is sacred, but if it was wrong or misguided we do not have to be bound by a tradition that dishonors all that we have come to appreciate and that has given us the bounty of life that we all share.  Nature is the one equalizer that we need to heed. We did not have to wait for a pandemic to wake us or give us an ultimatum to do what is right.  There is no need to negotiate.  Let us do what is right and start anew.  Do it for mother earth, do it for your loved ones. We are one in the same and there is no need to blame. Let us do what is right. The veil is lifted. The time is now to make the shift.

Rainfall

Oh the beauty of rainfall

As it drops down and bless our plants with the grace

And how it makes everywhere so cool that it’s now nicknamed a weather for two, for one can’t warm himself but two can

The temperature drops and everywhere’s cold you have to warm up yourself and if you’re without a partner then anything hot can serve as a substitute

You hear the thunder laughing seeing people running under the rain looking for shelter and the lightening clapping telling them to make haste

Oh what mischievous set of twins

But sometimes they weep when because of their little pranks a life is lost but as they all say it was a mistake

They didn’t know the rain would blur his vision making him to lose control and a tumbling is heard and next is fire the rain may be able to quench the fire but the deed is done

As they say no deed can be done to undo the done deed

She just wants to remove the burden of the stress and the heat we go through on a daily basis

She’s a queen but sometimes her power is just too overwhelming for herto bear

20 How Often Do Stars Die?

When sunlight hits, an atom flips.

Electrons jump about.

From shell to ever higher shell.

It really makes a sight.

These little spots of polka-dots.

Must borrow from the sun.

To have their day it works that way

Unless a sun; your one.

Mercury, and Venus,

Earth and even Mars.

Must get its light from the sun’s might.

To shine like they are stars.

Now learning this, I make a wish,

Upon their falling light.

Each second here, a star quite near,

Explodes and fades from sight.

Lumiere

It came from the top

I thought we were about to

be plunged into darkness

for the whole evening

But it came from above

I saw the prism fan out

light the screen from the

projector box above and beyond.

He had one arm around my shoulder

and I wanted him to let go and

move away completely or kiss me,

Either end of the spectrum

would have been satisfactory

But he did neither

And in that under-lit back row

In the bitty haze of the projector’s stare

My regime took shape and order.

Crime would only be committed in

the darkest of basements and

everywhere there was light,

there was hope.

Special dispensation was to be given

to writers and artists and musicians

to use black light to create monstrously

terrifying works of splendour and magnitude.

When the lights went up

the whirr of the projector caught my attention

Only one more thing for reinvention.
