Hello to all!

I just got my account up and running and hopefully, I completed my profile correctly! I will be entering the half-marathon, as this is my first time. I will be writing from Calgary, Alberta Canada where I am visiting my sister. I hope to practice over the next week to be ready for the big day! I entered a contest a few years ago called, The Coffee Shop Author Contest, and I created a book of poetry with coffee as the main thread through the poems. Hopefully, that has prepared me for this endeavour! Good luck to all!

Ready to Feel the Burn

I love the Poetry Marathon and look forward to the event every year (this will be my 3rd year). This year, my plan is to try to write poetry that pairs with pieces of my art. I usually use the prompts, and I still may write from them, but I’d really like to create something (a chapbook, even something as simple as a binder) pairing a painting with a poem. Good luck to my fellow poets. Onward!

I’m back

Mandy here! Looking forward to doing this again.  Been waiting all year. Haven’t done much writing these last few months.  What I’ve been doing is typing up and compiling all of my poetry.  More to come on that.

Y’all ready??

Greetings from Kansas City, Missouri

Hello, All.  I’m Jan, an English teacher at Longview Community College in Greater Kansas City.  I’m also a wife with a wonderful partner (Steve,) big sister who finally at age 50 isn’t so bossy anymore (that’s my story, and I’m sticking with it,) cerebral aneurysm survivor, enthusiastic reader, and wanderlust. Any of these may be in my writing, but my own writing has gone beyond these few identities.

This is my first marathon, and I’m starting with 1/2 and 12 prompts. I seek ways to attend writing retreats or readings of any sort. I’ve been creating my creative space and personal time anew these past few years. Hope, tenacity, and humor have helped me move forward, but it is writing that has grounded me and given me “roots” for the strength I need. Besides, it’s fun. I’ve always written alongside my students, but that often came from responsibility. I continue that as part of my work, but I now write here and elsewhere for myself.

I’ve been discovering the ins and outs of this site and e-conversing with various people on the Facebook page. Check that out if you have the inclination.

Introduction 4.0

Hello everyone!
This is my fourth marathon, and I’m so excited to be back! I haven’t written anything in a while so this year might be a bit of a challenge to me, but the past year has been quite the roller coaster so I’m sure I have plenty to write about.
Hope everyone enjoys their marathon!

Hello world

My name is Ksenija. I come from the capital of Croatia. My whole life is about writing. Ever since I remember, and it all started at 6 with first days at school, I’ve been doing nothing smarter than devoting my life to writing. Unfortunately, having so much behind, does not mean I am a successful author yet. All I am facing on regular basis are rejections and more rejections. After a dozen, I stopped counting. Some publishers say I am too complicated for them and others take it easier to put it aside after ten pages. As for my professional calling, I am an engineer of the laboratory medicine. By now I have worked on poetry, haiku, plays, novels, scenarios, quizzes, reality shows and two strategies that I have presented the president of the Euro Parliament in Brussels, on how to eradicate world poverty and increase the unemployment. Guess what, the president’s secretary gave me kind rejection.
