Thank you so much Amanda! This was our last prompt and even though I was reading and trying to do a sonnet, my attention and brain power just could not di it..so I did this haiku instead. I wanted the haiku to embody the beauty of this weathered and wiser bloom.
I love how you refer to the petals as wise. Reminds me of the notion that if we talk to our flowers or they listen to music they grow faster. Really beautiful poem Ingrid!
Thanks Siobhan! I was also thinking of the blossom as a a person…my rough draft of my failed sonnet (written minutes before this as a choice then I turned to haiku)..my original had the blossom as person…with veins and lifelines…
I like this Haiku for prompt 10 how the writer describes the flower very imaginative and made me stop and think 💭
Thank you Vidya…This was my swan song before sleep. At that point, I too was past my blooming stage.
Thank you Vidya.. My haiku (this) is still in the running..I am torn between submitting this poem, the one about the Idiom “A Penny for you…or my poem, In my Dreams…which should I choose???Thank you for your comment and advice.
Beautifully written – some much content in so few words – the beauty of Haiku. I saw the flower representing an aging person so your message came through loud and clear! (Shhh-maybe that’s because I see this in myself)
Thank you Wendy! And I am so glad that you were able to read so much into and about my haiku…the beauty f the written word…It is amazing how it reflects our perspective at different points in our lives…
Its so beautiful. The idea and the image is gracefully conveyed. Loved it.
Thank you Cristy! I am leaning toward submitting this haiku. I was thinking my poem about the idiom “A penny for your thoughts” but the haiku is short and saves space in an anthology… It is a toss up between the two!
This is as beautiful as your soul! I enjoyed reading your bio as well! I am very interested in Poetry Therapy and I am so happy to see you sharing that interest! You’re amazing!
Thank you so much! And, thank you for commenting and sharing such beautiful words. Yes, I think poetry therapy and really looking at our words (both written and spoken) could help to heal this world.
Thank you so much! I am really beginning to love and appreciate the haiku as a form of writing. And thank you for enjoying this one! It is one of my personal favourites…my anthem of sorts through haiku!
This one really packs a punch, Ingrid! Very strong imagery.
Thank you Daryl! I decided to go with my penny poem and In My Dreams instead but, this was in the running and made it a very hard choice. I am falling in love with Haikus and the different ones that you can do…I think I am going to be writing many traditional haikus in my future and monostitches two…a one line haiku… I still plan on publishing all of these poems…I had a good year this year and it was less stressful (movement wise) than others.
Oh what those withered wise petals have seen.
Love this!

Weathered but wise , experience does make us wiser. Beautifully written

Great last line!
Thank you Leroy!
Great Haiku. I like the transition from Delicate flower to weathered but wise.

Thanks Skay! I am still debating whether to submit, “In My Dreams, Poem 1, Poem 9- Idiom Reboot or this poem.
Probably my favorite Haiku from the marathon. I think you should include in your anthology submission.

I really like this. Simple and beautiful
Thank you Cindy! I did not submit this to the anthology but it is one of my favourites too!
Wise indeed! Simply explained…
Thank you Rajani!
Deeply profound…a lot of stories can be said of the petals once young and delicate and now weathered and wise
