Hour 22 – Haiku 2
Solo white feather
Gently rests on verdant moss
Until the wind blows
24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
Solo white feather
Gently rests on verdant moss
Until the wind blows
Brats don’t give a fuck
Construction was never in my world,
Too cold to miss the game
Noo excuses might see the lovely Suzie
Lucky Suz I call her
A dead cat stretches out perhaps it’s sleeping
Cut this wind to the back of me
Billy should have the hot counter on the go –
A pie on the fly will do me
No point in thinking of home time,
It’ll come soon enough
I will take a leisurely stroll by the sidewalk
And drink in the site of machinery idling in the construction ground as I walk
The wired fence of the site is no barrier to my walk
I am prepared to enjoy the journey; that is why I am dressed for this walk
In fact, it is what the doctor recommended for my heart

BFF
companion
bed warmer
agreeable
sociable
comfort giver
storehouse of kisses
dishwasher
irresistible
affectionate
good-natured
undeniable
cuddler
affable
keeper of secrets
owner of an old soul
loyal
sympathetic
trusting
guardian
thief of my heart
dog

Hour 22
He hunched his shoulders,
Walking, fading into the big city,
One of the many
with dreams unfulfilled
efforts unrewarded,
No takers for his skill.
He had walked his path,
But destination eluded him,
His wants dying on his tongue,
with all the mouths he had to feed.
In his despair, he couldn’t see,
He had enriched lives so many,
One was an engineer,
another, a photographer,
they owed their lives to him
he had kept them off the streets,
If only he saw himself with their eyes,
he’d see he was taller than the giants.

Some part of me is empty
Barren
I have far too much space
for the thoughts to uncontrollably invade.
Night time is the worse of times
And daytime silence is unbearably quiet
To be reminded
of a young love not requited.
Waves of fire wash over me
As I dream the dream
of the maternal love that comforted me
Here I am
Vikings to the left of me
Fog to the front
Water beneath us
Clear sky above
Steering forward to the unknown
With my past lives embarked on my ship
And what followed behind was your empty crib.
Here I am on this journey,
in this space.
I have my moments but I’m not ok.
Look at me
As if it isn’t written on my face
Dripping from my lips sticky
Probably tastes familiar
The kind of exercise that best fits my frame
Say my name if you can guess it
Bless it with holy water
At a certain point I am more than a daughter
Have to grant myself the freedom to admit
I carry carnal feral animal
That screams for me to free it
No small walks through the park
She doesn’t bark
She howls
These demons to be exorcised
Are impulses to be exercised
To be worn out to be worn down
Wrapped around and grounded
Found it ravenous and savage
Exclaims God’s name in vain
Can say it better than her own
When a flower blooms,
Looking at it your heart blooms too,
Its petals like,
They wanna hug you,
Come on,
Stop shying away,
Its life is limited,
to a day or two,
Still it smiles,
With hands all wide,
ready to embrace,
Whatever its fate,
With smile so bright,
Fills you with light…
24 Poems: “The Dinner Party”
The Toast
A grateful guest stood up
With some grateful words
His tongue no doubt loosened
But still inventing enchanting words
“I thank the host,
for this wonderful evening
and am astonished at his efforts
that leave me speechless, this evening”
Everyone laughed
Knowing the impossibility of that
So he nodded stubbornly
And said with arms raised “take that!”
He grabbed his rosé champagne
And gathered himself
Then bowed with joie de vivre
And with dignity, sat himself
His address was finished
By someone else
Let us rejoice in the gathering of friends
And I cheered, there is no one else!”

I’ve gone away,
Far away from the troubles of
Social media, my beloved and
The suffering that is to come.
I’m helpless, but it’s imperative
I go away.
Where the centre of peace lie,
I dwell.
Devoid of the government’s compulsory
Distancing.
I’m alone here.
I’ll die in peace and embrace
The comfort that angels bring.
