My Billionaire Dad

There is nothing in this world that is beyond me.

I am the son of a billionaire dad

And as the heir to his empire, the world eats from the palm of my hand

There is nothing in this world that is above me

As long as I long for it I get it and it becomes mine

As long as I long for it it becomes mine for life

The lesser mortal looks and wonder

As I live large and stronger

Giving no care to need and hunger

Replication

I turn into myself.

I turn into you.

Together we’re telling

a new kind of truth.

We’re stronger together

than we’ve been on our own.

And the best part is that

we are never alone.

DARK SPOT. Prompt 19 Hour 19

DARK SPORT.

I am the darkest hour before Dawn
When the cold bites your smooth skin

I am the thoughts that keep you up
Every night, a company of your losses

I am the smallest mistake
But every space in your life I take

I am the ghosts that visit you
Scaring your young innocent heart

I am the silence in the street corner
Waiting for someone to freak out

I am a bottle of wine gone bad
I will leave an aftertaste if you drink

I am the conflict between two lovers
I keep getting between their love

I am the dark spot you want to erase
And until you do, you won’t glow

Prompt 19: Apolemia/Dylan ’61

That Siphonophore Apolemia looks like a wall
pulled down from a saloon
to make room for the sea urchin school –
they don’t have recess, but they swim
in algebraic equations.

A scientist told me that.

That Siphonophore Apolemia
shook itself loose from a candelabra in outer space
that no one had time to ship back to Macy’s
and now Santa can’t wrap Rudolph in anything
but a dimestore cheetah coat.

You don’t shuck an ear next to Siphonophore Apolemia
unless you know where the Algae Choir gets their husks.
They dance on ’em. Better than sand.
A cook’s tour guide said that,
but he’s anonymous for now.

Don’t forget to ask for Siphonophore Apolemia
at your ice cream and gadgets counter.
They’ll fill your dish and repress your refrigerator.

Let me have a light from that cig, will ya?
Is that a Siphonphore Apolemia lighter?
Those are keepsakes. [Pockets lighter.]
I have two cousins who married Apolemia’s sisters.
I don’t know what that makes us,
but they’re welcome to my neighbor’s guest room.

Clear Water

Crystal clear.

Sparkling, and glittery.

Cool and tasteless.

Life-giving and precious.

hour 19 poem

Making a difference

What will you do?

When you find the facts.

When you finally know the truth.

Will you truly understand what it means?

How will you use the information to live your life?

Will living your life make any difference in the lives of others.

At the vey lease will it make any difference in your life or the lives of your family.

If it doesn’t will it make any difference to you, will you change your life

Will you be honest with yourself when you answer this question?

What will you do to change your life if you do anything?

What will be the result of you action or lack of on you?

Do you every think about what knowledge to have.

Do you ever stop to consider the power?

Do you care at all?

The Corvid

Downtown is empty and the crows bitch and moan.
“Where’s our damn French fries? Where’d our monkey servants go?”
“They’re not leaving their metal beasts,” one crow intoned.
“You fool,” replied another. “Those beasts EAT the monkeys, everyone knows.”

“Are we too reliant on monkeys?”
“Let’s send out some spies!”
“It’s a monkey conspiracy!” the murder’s neurotic crow cried.
“They’re plotting against us fosho!”
“Quiet you dullbeak, enough with your lies.”

“The monkeys are scared,” croaked an old crow,
venerable and wise.

(And he secretly knew a monkey, and plays with his shoe ties)
“The monkey groups are fighting. And there’s a monkey curse. If too many gather, the monkeys will die.”
The crows nod and murmur as if deep in thought.
But really they just want their fries.

Crow chatter is an omen, pure neutral. Same with magpies.

Quoth the Corvid
“BwaHBwaHBwaHBwaHBwaH”

Prompt #19: Oh, the Hassle of a Face Mask

In epidemics of yesterday
Americans watched as other countries donned a mask to stop the spread of illness.
It is a basic concept,
Wear a mask to prevent sharing any virus that you may have with others.
It all makes sense when someone else is being told to do it.
Then came the Coronavirus.
The pandemic of today has scientists all over the world pleading for people
to social distance and wear a mask.
And while other countries have set their pride aside and covered their faces
Americans, with all of the pride and obstinance of teenagers continues to refuse to use a face covering.

If only we could set our obstinance aside to see that we are all in this together.
Your inaction is selfish.
You take other people’s lives in your own hands when you refuse to cover up.
As we were all told when we were kids,
There is no I in TEAM.
Put your mask on.
Thank you!

Love’s Funeral

I’m done.

Done with you.

You came for truth

I came for you

Too much time

Out loud

On my knees

You’ve crossed the line

A sign

On my knees

Life goes on

After years

Against the machine

Coming over

Killing everything

Your eyes looked

And don’t feel

Life goes on
